Canada’s top-ranked men’s amateur to compete in PGA TOUR Americas event at TPC Toronto

Caledon, ON – Justin Matthews, Canada's top-ranked male amateur, will join the field as a sponsor’s exemption at next week’s Osprey Valley Open, an official PGA TOUR Americas event held July 23-26 at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

Matthews, a native of Little Britain, Ontario, made headlines with a standout performance at the RBC Canadian Open, notching a top-30 finish and earning the Gary Cowan Medal as the top amateur at Canada’s national open championship. The 22-year old is currently a Senior at the University of Charlotte and a student of The Performance Academy at TPC Toronto.

“We’re delighted to have Justin competing at TPC Toronto alongside some of the top up-and-coming players from around the world,” said Osprey Valley Open Tournament Director Brad Parkins. “Seeing Justin develop his game right here at TPC Toronto over the past several years has been remarkable to watch, and it was a thrill to see him show off his potential at the RBC Canadian Open. We look forward to seeing him return to compete at TPC Toronto and add to the incredibly strong field of PGA TOUR Americas players.”

“TPC Toronto is such a special place for me, having worked on my game there so many times over the past few years,” said Matthews, who is coached by TPC Toronto Director of Instruction Braeden Cryderman. “The facilities are incredible and I’ve been fortunate to get to know the courses well, so I’m excited to test myself against some awesome players there next week.”
